From Lynehay To Falmouth

"From Lynehay to Falmouth" is a visual exploration of deep connections between country and western lifestyles, music, fashion and relationships. This project was produced from my personal roots - growing up in rural areas, surrounded by country music, the flow of farming life, and a strong appreciation for community and tradition.
This project has been more than just a creative piece for a University degree - it has also been deeply personal. From this project, I have travelled back to my homeland, listened to farmers' stories, looked through old archives of my family's farming and their country music, and reflected on more and more of my past. The project helped me reconnect with family and friends I had not spoken to for a while, and allowed me to share our old stories. It helped me to reconnect. Best of all, it made me feel closer to home more than ever.
That's why this exhibition piece is dedicated to my grandparents, Laurie and Freda Dewar. They have been my rock and guidance, always encouraging me to succeed and giving me words of wisdom. They have taught me ways of life that not every kid gets to experience, like driving a tractor or being taught how to pick the best chickens at the farmers market and then having to build a shed for them - they showed me my love for country music and appreciation for finding art in everything.
